I spent most of last week finishing up my first devotional book Nobody Left Out: Jesus Meets the Messes. Although most of the content was written last year, it’s still been a process to get the book ready for publication.
Main takeaway: Sometimes, a huge task can seem overwhelming. I know for me, I don’t want to start a big project unless I can devote all my time to it. I want to tackle it uninterrupted! But life rarely gives you that chance.

In the book Inner State 80, Dr. Joel Hunter talks about how we sometimes have the wrong perspective of faith. He says:
We start to think of faith as a spiritual quality within ourselves, rather than as hope and trust in someone outside ourselves. The issue is not how trusting we are, but how trustworthy God is.
So the burden of trust falls on God? That sounds wrong to say. But then I started thinking about a parent/child relationship.
